Why Bruno Fernandes was ‘upset’ by improved Man Utd performance at Liverpool.

  • Man Utd ended recent slump to take a point from trip to Anfield
  • Liverpool surprisngly held to 2-2 draw by resurgent Red Devils
  • Bruno Fernandes calls out lack of consistency from the team

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes admitted he was “upset” following Sunday’s draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Despite it being one of the under-fire squad’s best performances on the season.

United went into the game at Anfield off the back of a poor December, during which they lost six of ten games across all competitions. Including five of seven in the Premier League alone.

Considering that Liverpool have set the standard at home and in Europe this season, having also won 3-0 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in September, most expected United’s run to continue.

But Lisandro Martinez gave Ruben Amorim side the lead in the second half. And while Liverpool then scored twice to go in front themselves, Amad Diallo equalised to claim a deserved point. It was further proof that United, having also beaten ทางเข้า ufabet Manchester City in recent weeks, are capable of such displays. Which in turn was a source of frustration for Fernandes due to the lack of consistency.

“We could have even won the game at the end. It’s a fair result. I’m upset because if we show this against Liverpool why can’t we do this every week? Finally I did a proper performance overall. We need much more from ourselves to get more from this season.”

Looking ahead in light of the performance at Anfield, Fernandes revealed he is actually more “worried” about facing struggling Southampton in the Premier League than Arsenal in the FA Cup.
